Earning Bonus with your phone will soon be possible in more places than before. The practice is already popular at S Group’s stores, and it will now also be expanded to restaurants. The rollout will take place gradually throughout this year as the restaurants’ payment terminals are replaced with new ones.

S Group’s co-op members have been able to add their S-Etukortti membership cards to Apple Wallet since April last year, as well as use it to earn Bonus at most S Group locations.

“The launch had a good reception from those of our members who use Apple products, and many people quickly adopted Apple Wallet as their primary way for earning Bonus on grocery purchases. As such, I’m pleased to say that this will soon also be possible in our restaurants and cafés,” says Heini Dahlström, VP Loyaltyat SOK.

The rollout began in April and will progress gradually as the restaurants’ payment terminals are replaced with new ones.

“We aim to have the new Bonus-earning method implemented in all our restaurants before the Christmas party season, that is, by mid-October,” says Dahlström.

At S Group’s hotel receptions, it is not yet possible to earn Bonus with a card in Apple Wallet. The rollout for hotels will begin later.

“It should be noted that it’s still best to take a physical S-Etukortti with you when you go to a hotel”, says Dahlström.

Remember to activate two cards to ensure you earn your Bonus

With the familiar green S Group plastic card, you can both pay and earn Bonus, but on a phone, two separate cards are needed for this, Dahlström reminds. Customers must activate both an S-Bank debit or credit card and an S-Etukortti member card to earn cashback for their mobile payments. On iPhone, both cards should be added to Apple Wallet, which can be easily done via the S-mobiili member app.

When using a payment terminal, customers must first present their S-Etukortti member card to register the Bonus, then present the payment card of their choosing. When purchases are made using Apple Pay with the S-Bank S-Etukortti Visa card, customers receive a 0.5% payment method benefit in addition to the Bonus. Apple Pay has already been available in S Group's restaurants, and with the recent implementations, it will be possible to also earn Bonus using Apple devices.
